This cocktail came to me the other day lying on the lawn of my Dad's garden in Norfolk. I was thinking about nature and all the smells and the flowers while he mowed the lawn ... as you do ... the smell of freshly cut grass started reminding me of Wheatgrass, the pungent powder you put in your smoothies. Said to be a serious superfood. And then I started thinking about our cocktail bar at Fare Healthy ... so I decided to see if I could come up with something that would evoke that peaceful little day dream.
Go easy on the Wheatgrass powder though, you can definitely have too much of a good thing here!
And may I just proudly declare that that nasturtium flower in the picture is the only measly flower I've managed to harvest from the seeds I planted back in March. Everything has died. The pansies withered, the lavender wilted and the cornflowers rotted. Pathetic. Well at least he had his moment to shine.
1 shot St Germain (elderflower liqueur)
1/2 a shot of lemon juice
1/2 a shot of agave syrup
1/2 shot of freshly squeezed apple juice
1/4 shot white vermouth
1 egg white
A few drops of rose water
1/4 tsp (or a pinch) of wheatgrass powder
A couple of sprigs of mint
Shake all the ingredients very well in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain and pour into a champagne saucer.
Garnish with bee pollen and a nasturtium flower.
I was definitely in need of knocking back a few of these after the stress of getting the line up finalised and the tickets on sale for Fare Healthy last week. It's such a relief to have passed that milestone, which we've been working our asses off on since January. We're so chuffed with the line up but the responsibility of nailing it is now beginning to sink in.
We've sold two thirds of the tickets in 5 days!! So don't hang around! Get tickets here.
