Two Teas

Beetroot Chai tea

Because of its high levels of nitrates, Beetroot juice has been proven to have a powerful effect on stamina and endurance.  Many athletes drink concentrated beetroot shots every morning.  But it’s too cold for beetroot juice to be satisfying at the moment though, all I want at this time of year is hot drinks.

Makes 1 cup

250ml fresh beetroot juice

A few slices of fresh ginger

20 cardamom seeds (out of their pods)

1 tsp ground cinnamon

6 cloves

1 tsp vanilla essence

1 tsp agave nectar

A few drops of apple cider vinegar

Put all of the ingredients in a saucepan and heat up.  You can drink immediately or make a batch and let it infuse.  Then just heat it up as you want it.

Apple Cider Vinegar Tea

Everybody knows by now that Apple Cider Vinegar is just about the most amazing thing for your body.  It lowers cholesterol, it kills bacteria if you have a sore throat, it prevents indigestion, it helps clear a stuffy nose, it increases your metabolism, it reduces water retention, it gets rid of dandruff, it clears spots, boosts energy, it helps with cramp and bad breath, it whitens teeth and fades bruises and it helps prevent diabetes.  What!  Must be magic.

With this drink, you're also getting the health benefits of the turmeric, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, the digestive help of the ginger and the cleansing effect of the lemon.

200ml boiling water

1 generous tsp of Apple cider vinegar

1 tsp agave nectar

Juice of half a lemon

A pinch of turmeric (optional, I prefer it without but I'm not big on the flavour of turmeric)

A knob of fresh ginger, sliced

Put all the ingredients in a cup and pour boiling water on top, stir.
